Emily Boncore

Licensed Professional Counselor
Founder of Awaken Psychotherapy

I specialize in working with trauma and resulting symptoms, including anxiety, disconnection from self and relationship challenges. I bring playfulness, curiosity, and compassion with me into the counseling room where, in our work together, where you can explore your feelings at your own pace—without judgment. My hope is for you to reclaim a strong and loving relationship with yourself; to start from within to create the change you want to see in your world.

As an AEDP-trained therapist, I offer a compassionate, experiential approach to healing that’s grounded in connection, safety, and transformation. AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) is a cutting-edge, neuroscience-informed therapy that helps people process difficult emotions and trauma by tapping into the brain’s natural capacity to heal through secure relationships. Rather than focusing solely on what’s “wrong,” we will uncover and strengthen what’s right: your resilience, your capacity to feel deeply, and your ability to grow through emotional experiences. At times, I’ll challenge you to gain a different view of yourself and your world, and together, we will find new ways of being through pausing, checking in with what you are experiencing in the moment and “being with” the sensations moving through you.

You may be coming in feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or in pain. Through AEDP, we’ll gently but powerfully move toward the core of those experiences—often beneath defenses or anxiety—so that what once felt unbearable can become transformable. Moments of healing are not just possible, but expected. Together, we aim not only for symptom relief but for a felt sense of vitality, connection, and new possibilities in your life.

. You don’t have to go it alone—healing happens in relationship, and I’ll be with you every step of the way.

I am a former school social worker and have expertise in working with children and their families to feel successful in school and at home. I found such clarity and healing in my own therapy, which has pushed me to become a therapist myself. Even though it can be scary to take this first step, you are brave and I am here for you.

Whether you’re here for healing from experiencing a traumatic event, navigating a life transition, big or small, or detangling a mind full of confusing thoughts contributing to a disconnection between your heart and body, it is my joy and honor to walk alongside you. My hope is to create a safe environment and deep relationship with you for you to feel heard and known. I wholeheartedly believe that you are capable and you are the expert in your own life, and I am here to support you on your journey.

My approach to therapy is grounded in empathy and compassion. I am committed to work together with you to set therapeutic goals and create the appropriate treatment plan.
